Renata Guzman

More on the passing of Renata Guzman, from her Husband Ray Guzman:

Remembering Renata

renata-guzman-hoboken.jpgMy beautiful & lovely wife of 36 years, Renata Guzman, passed on Tuesday January 6th after a monumental 5 year battle against Breast /Brain cancer. I am privileged to be the husband of such a beautiful woman, gifted writer, loving mother and talented artist. Attempting to maintain a creative state of being as a well as remaining productive has been an immense challenge through this cancer experience and it gets no easier with Renata’s heartbreaking passing. However difficult the coming weeks may be, my son and I can seek comfort and creativity in knowing that Renata would not want us to live our lives in any other way.

Renata has been such an inspirational woman in many people’s lives, as a young adult and fledgling artist one of her inspirations was her drawing professor Jack Potter. While at the School of Visual Arts, Jack Potter was instrumental in allowing Renata to express herself as an artist, giving her the confidence to recognize that which was already within her and to also never compromise her spirit, her ideas and her beliefs. In celebration of Renata’s life we ask that you make a contribution to the SVA JACK POTTER SCHOLARSHIP FUND, so that future generations may be afforded the same opportunities that made Renata the woman that we all loved and respected so very much.
