2/12/2009 Update:

12/29/2008:
3… 2… 1… “Another nail salon, dry cleaner or realtor?”
Yep. Modern Nails & Spa is moving into the ground floor of the Medical Arts building at 728 Washington Street. Workers on the scene said they would open up in “January.”
This may be great news for Eva’s Shoes underneath it, right? With all the ladies going to get their digits and little piggies beautified – why not see what shoes they sell!

Description: Manicures, Pedicures, and other spa treatments
Address: 728 Washington Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030
Phone: TBD

Oh Thank God it’s Modern nails and spa! This town has many ‘classic’ nails and spa places and it’s about time we get a modern one

another asian money laundering operation. how many do we have in this town? does anyone know? i think every new privately owned “business” that has opened in hoboken in 2008 is an asian money laundering business.
“we do you nail. only $30 dolla” meanwhile the rent is $4500.00 per month not including insurance/utilities/renovations…you guys understand that they launder money thru from the other businesses like pirated cd’s and dvd’s, copied garments and accessories, prostitution and drug trade. and by doing business with them you are helping them. same for all the food vendors too.

In response to strand tramp who said:
That is exactly what is happening!!! I remember years ago there was a Chinese Restaurant on 5th and Washington (on the East side of the street) called Bon Fon (or something very similar) and the owner’s wife was actually mob killed in her car somewhere out of town. Many complaints were made about this restaurant using Court Street in the wee hours of the morning and it wasn’t for the delivery of food either. Boxes and boxes of journals were coming and going. You could actually see them on shelves in the back room when you entered for lunch. They had special lunch pricings for the “all you can eat” buffet, and These trays were brought in from another location.
If these asians keep up their current trend of renting and buying locations, you won’t be able to tell if you live in Hoboken or Fort Lee in the future.

Went here on Saturday with my mom and learned from the owner that they opened early to start bringing in revenue but they clearly were not ready. With only three staff on hand it was a very long wait and pretty disorganized. I would give them a few weeks to get their act together and then check it out..it was clean with nice (and ample) pedicure chairs and my manicure is still in full effect!
