Water Main Break: Adams Street

12/22/2008:

As frustration in Hoboken rises – the aging infrastructure crumbles (maybe the resident’s stress is causing the damage? haha)

Anyway – Adams Street between 5th and 6th was closed earlier as United Water was on scene repairing the leaky pipe. A resident at 5th and Adams said he’s not sure what homes were affected, since he had running water. The street is now open.

See the lovely “scenes of a typical Hoboken week” below.

Good bread bakeries are still in Hoboken because the water comes from the same source. 😆

yeah, hoboken is nowhere near bankrupt! i bet not many of you here know that hoboken used to own the water company. yes, we had our own muni water treatment plant and many will tell you that the reason so many bread bakeries were in hoboken was because the water was very good! but the city decided to sell the plant and the water service contracts years ago. just another asset that the city has sold off to pay past overspending. now we have busted water mains and brown water every week and no interest in addressing the flooding issue. see how it works?

I just looked out the back of my place and saw an unfamiliar darkness. It looks as thought the power might be out on the 500 block of Madison St. I’ve never seen the lights completely out on all of my rear neighbors’ windows. Has anyone heard anything?
