Woman badly burned on Jefferson St.

12/17/2008:

10 minutes in the past – a call was made for a “still alarm of fire” at 514 Jefferson Street, third floor. (A still alarm is a fire alarm transmitted silently, usually by telephone, rather than by sounding the conventional signal or bell apparatus. Still alarms are commonly used to alert fire and medical personnel as to what type of emergency they are responding to.).

However, while no fire was reported, an elderly woman was badly burned (45% of the body – waist up) with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. She was taken directly to Hoboken University Medical Center – without waiting for medics, the burns were that serious.

Hope everything is alright!

What a shame! May God bless her family and help them to remember all the good times they shared together through the years.I wrote a poem when my Mother passed away many years ago that I would like to share with her family. Passing Through It seems just like yesterday when my hair was thick and long And I sat down beside you as we shared a simple song But time has surely flown on by and left me here so blue And now I’ve finally realized that you were just passing through With all my yesterdays behind me I keep on wondering why That every time I think about you all I can do is cry For it’s the gentle way you treated me that I truly miss As I close my eyes and think of you and your warm and tender kiss But time has surely flown on by and left me here so blue And now I finally realized that you were just passing through Mother when you were here with me My heart it soared so high But then the lord took you away All I did was wonder why They’ll never be another To replace the love you gave And I will carry the thought of you With me to the grave It’s a shame that time has flown on by and left me here so blue But some day soon we’ll be together again when I’m finished passing through. Never forget the good times!… Read more »

i saw a guy on 5th Ave last week standing in the midst of all the people shopping. he was shoeless, wearing some sort of shorts and a jacket over his shoulders like a shawl. hair/beard looking like he’s been sleeping in Central Park. the guy should be strapped to a gurney and hauled off to funny farm now. i object to the waste of money for no results. to the spending of resources and not bettering society.

Who pays for the process of strapping the guy to a gurney, taking him to a funny farm, and keeping him on the funny farm? That stuff is not free. And I don’t know what “results” it would produce in terms of bettering society. So if you’re against taxpayer money for the homeless, I don’t know how you can support institutionalizing the homeless, because that involves taxpayer money.
RIF, skywalker. RIF. Stop posting until you grasp his points. Then come back and play.
And now after all the BULLS%#T by the Usual Suspects lets get back to the badly burned woman, is she ok? Hope she is recuperating quickly! Lets all pray that she is going to make a speedy & full recovery. Oh and ignore the hijackers who constantly bombard each thread with all their psychosis induced ramblings and you will enjoy the informative side of this site much more. It just ST in KS and ruins an otherwise pleasant visit to H411, all the name calling and child like behavior is getting old! My eyes are bleeding.
She passed away several hours later that day. The wake is today from 2- 4pm & 7- 9pm. Someone else said it earlier, some prayers for her family who is in mourning during this Christmas season would be in the spirit!
