Food Drive at Carpe Diem

12/13/2008:

Hoboken resident Pat Fitzgibbons, who was a regular over at Ted & Jo’s (which closed earlier in the year) – used to have a fantastic Toy Drive for the holiday season. Now that T&J’s is gone, he hangs his hat over at Carpe Diem Bar (14th and Grand).

So instead of a toy drive – he’s holding an impromptu Food Drive (for the Hoboken Food Pantry – aka Homeless Shelter) instead. He’s already gotten the word out, but the more help you can provide, the better! Help out those in need this year!

Saturday night food drive

“A bunch of friends and myself who used to go to Ted & Jo’s bar decided to have a get-together at Carpe Diem this Saturday and I thought it might be a nice idea to do something a little more than usual — so we decided to have a food drive.

Since this is near the holidays and since T&J’s used to have that swell toy drive, I was wondering if people would be interested in making this reunion a little more than just a regular night out. The response to this has really been great and it looks like we’re going to have a bunch of donated baskets for that night!

I have spoken to the Hoboken Food Pantry and they are VERY excited for the potential donations. If people are unable to come on Saturday night and still want to make a donation, I can pick it up or you could drop one off early.

I met with Joe, the owner of Carpe Diem, and he said we can bring the boxes up early (maybe 6:00 or so) and we can leave them in the corner of the restaurant. He also has a van that we can use to bring the boxes down to the Food Pantry.”

Another goodwill gesture by a fine Hoboken resident. Way to go!

first of all, on Dec 12 Corzine signed legislation providing $22,500,000.00 of NJ taxpayers money to go towards poor people’s utility bills, to nj food pantries, and get this, to help the poor pay their legal bills when they can’t pay their other bills and declare bankruptcy of go into foreclosure. so MORE then enough of my money is going to the lazy and stupid in this state and BTW, isn’t the hoboken food pantry part of the All Saints Development Corporation portfolio of assets? F them.
