Monday Morning QB – 11/10/2008
Hope everyone had a nice weekend! Here’s a little Monday morning “Coffee-Talk” to get the week started…
Are you off today or tomorrow?
Speaking of (long) weekends – I never quite knew for certain whether Veterans Day was an official holiday or not and how many people have the day off. With City Hall closed in Hoboken today – what about the rest of you?
Giants vs. Eagles
Things weren’t looking good for the Super Bowl Champions last night, as the Giants were picked off on their first drive – and the Eagles converted the turnover into 7 points. The rest of the first half – the Big Blue seemed to do well on offense (when they didn’t turn it over), while the Philly had a bit more trouble going – but benefited greatly from turnovers – leaving the score at halftime 20-17 Giants.
Hope returned for the Eagles in the second half, as they scored on their first possession – taking a 24-20 lead.
The rest of the second half was like John Madden said “A good heavyweight fight” – and the NY Giants prevailed 36-31 (thanks to two blown challenges by the Eagles).
Regardless if the losing team “played well,” every loss in the NFL is crucial, and now the Eagles will have to step it up and play nearly flawless football the rest of the season, and hope that some of the teams ahead of them fall off the pace in order for them to stand a chance at the playoffs.
The Giants, meanwhile, are looking good for the top spot in the NFC!
Mayor Roberts is Number One!
Last week – I ran a quick poll to see who you would remove from Hoboken City Hall (that poll is now to the left – in case you didn’t vote).
Although his days in office may be numbered (if he decides to run for Mayor again – and loses) – many folks still picked him (over 70%). Other council members were also voted here and there – with Peter Cammarano coming in a distant second. A reader added Louis Picardo (City Tax Collector) – as a write in vote.
