Another windy night…

Remember the wind that knocked power out for many Hoboken residents this past Saturday?

Well, the National Weather Service is predicting more of the same starting this afternoon – and strengthening throughout the evening and night. As they mention – take extra care of your Halloween decorations!

Wind Advisory in Effect

STRONG WINDS THROUGH TONIGHT

THE WIND ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EDT WEDNESDAY

A RAPIDLY INTENSIFYING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OFF THE MID ATLANTIC COAST WILL MOVE ACROSS LONG ISLAND EARLY THIS AFTERNOON AND THEN NORTH ACROSS NEW ENGLAND BY LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. WINDS WILL GUST AS HIGH AS 55 MPH LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING.

WINDS WILL INCREASE AS THE DAY PROGRESSES… AND ARE EXPECTED TO GUST FROM 45 TO 55 MPH FROM MID AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING. IN ADDITION… SUSTAINED WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO 20 TO 30 MPH. WINDS WILL GRADUALLY SUBSIDE OVERNIGHT TONIGHT.

THERE HAVE BEEN SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES DUE MAINLY TO FALLEN TREES REPORTED IN THE HUDSON VALLEY. SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES WILL CONTINUE AND LIKELY INCREASE DURING THE AFTERNOON AS WINDS INCREASE AND EXPAND IN COVERAGE INTO THE NEW YORK CITY METROPOLITAN AREA.

WINDS THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT ARE EXPECTED TO BE SLIGHTLY STRONGER THAN THOSE THAT THE REGION EXPERIENCED THIS PAST SATURDAY. AS A RESULT OF THESE WINDS… SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES DUE TO FALLEN TREES ARE EXPECTED.

RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO SECURE LOOSE OBJECTS INCLUDING GARBAGE CANS… PATIO FURNITURE AND ESPECIALLY HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS.
