Pedestrian Struck 11th & Adams

10/21/2008:

Man – It really seems that a pedestrian is hit by a car in Hoboken at least (or on average of) once per day in Hoboken. About 10 minutes in the past, at the intersection of 11th and Adams.

I used to think it was typically the rushing drivers fault a majority of the time – however, I’m leaning towards the “self-absorbed and distracted pedestrian” these days. Just observe how in a hurry people are when crossing the street at red lights…

To many drivers here tend to roll though STOP signs rather then STOP. One driver told me after a close call “Hey, I’m not going to get hurt” to which I replied, “It’s going to hurt you giving me half your pay check for the rest of your life after my lawyer gets done with you”.

Most of you know my take on this, if you don’t look and just cruise out, I will intentionally not let you go and if they are really cocky and act like the own the road, I try to scare them by going faster as I turn the corner.

It’s a fabulous aggression release after a long day.

I hope we meet. If I see someone doing this as I am out jogging I make it a point to jog after the car, odds are you will get stuck in traffic.

If that happens I tend to go up to the window, say what the fu(k are you doing and the driver usually slinks into the driver’s seat and start apologizing like a little b!tch.

Your lesbian anger is funny.

I actually jog at 5AM so I don’t have to deal with the idiots on the sidewalk or the idiots on the road. But don’t kid yourself – in Hoboken, running on the sidewalk is no safer than running in the road because every block you have to go off the sidewalk and go through a crosswalk, and no cars stop before the crosswalk.
absolutely not true. when I drive in Hoboken, I always stop AT the stop sign, then creep up into the crosswalk to get the view I need to go. so that’s at least 1 car that stops. 😆

i jog in hoboken from time to time, it’s not bad, you just pick the right streets and you’re fine. sure there are obstacles on sidewalks, but none of them weigh 3,000 lbs.

i’d challenge you to look at how many people look at all when crossing. i bet it’s at LEAST the same amount of drivers that don’t look both ways at a stop sign.

Then they give you a dirty look as if they are doing cars a favor by letting them drive in the street. The best is when you have a green light and they walk in front of you they say, Hey asshole you have to yield, but the fact is they have to yield to cars at a traffic controlled intersection. Don’t get me wrong there are lots of asshole drivers, but it seems like there are more asshole walkers because its all about them. I say its just as bad to walk and talk on a cell phone as it is to drive and talk on a cell phone.
Drivers are the reason car insurance is so high in New Jersey, not pedestrian traffic.
Maybe the fact that asshole joggers keep running in front of cars is the reason auto insurance is so high. Maybe joggers should have to get insurance. “FUCKING DUDE, LIKE DIDN’T YOU SEE ME JOGGING HERE, LIKE I HAVE TO KEEP MY PULSE RATE UP DUDE”. What about those asshole joggers that refuse to use the sidewalk and jog in the middle of the street. King of Cock maybe it’s the insurance company just taking advantage of drivers.
Written by someone who has obviously never gone jogging in Hoboken… I love people who comment on things when… Read more »
