While this story didn’t affect Hoboken per se, many folks wrote in wondering why all those news helicopters were hovering near Hoboken this morning (waking people up). Seems like about half of Jersey City was affected…

Water main break in JC, near Newport
“People living and working in the Newport section of the city are advised to boil their water before cooking, washing food, brushing teeth or making ice cubes.
A 30-inch water main ruptured this morning at around 4 a.m. near Washington Boulevard and 18th Street. “

Luckily for everyone, most residents of Jersey City have not been affected as they rarely brush their teeth, clean their clothes, or wash food.

They sounded like they were in my bedroom around 6:30 this morning and did in fact wake me up.

Is there anyway this affects us in Hoboken?
…That is, outside of my 6 a.m. “True Lies meets Rambo” style wake up call…
Brutal for two reasons 1) No one likes being woken up by helicopters overhead and 2) because it was freaking Tuesday and there are 4 more work days until the weekend!

If any one is thinking of going to Target in JC, I can save you a trip – it’s closed due to the water main break and they are still working on fixing it.

No doubt!
I was pissed!
I thought it was a jackhammer, I openned the window to yell at the offender and had to look up–directly up—to find it!
That chopper was directly over my building.
