there are far too many pet owners in town, specifically dog owners, who do not perform the obligations of the role and clean up after their pet. i’ve never seen anything remotely like it in any other town. these selfish swine are one of the lowest forms of life on the planet.
there is NEVER (repeat: never) an excuse for not picking up after your dog. no, “i was in a rush.” “i’m busy.” blah, blah, blah. when you get a pet, you have to check the sense of self-importance at the door. so for those people, i hope it pours on the day of the parade. for the normal people, enjoy.

the dog license fee needs to be around $200 per year.

LOL @ Brady’s post! As for MF, I guess you don’t spend too much time in Manhattan. I grew up in a decent area of Manhattan and had to dodge way more dog turd than I’ve ever had to deal with in Hoboken.

i didn’t say bar tabs. i said $200 just for the right to drink. keep all those stupid feckheads out of the town that just come to get trashed. i see more messes left on the street from the drunks than i see a couple little turds. both are annoying though.
dog owners that can’t bend over to pick up their dog’s shit also think that their own shit is ice cream. you’re not going to change them with a higher license fee for their pets. be thankful they’re not shitting on the sidewalks themselves.

And as a dog owner, who picks up, I would also add that there are far too many people in town who do not pick up - anything. Look around you. Garbage, everywhere. The human footprint on this town is far, far greater than a few turds left by TURDS who do not pick up. Get over it and carry an extra bag. I do.

As a dog owner that also picks up all the time, the ammount of trash that is not dog related is amazing! Some A***ole droped a sandwich from 10th & Wash to 11th & wash the other day. It was crazy, meat cheese & bread strewn all over the sidewalk. I find that when I leave the house without the dog I still have bags on me, and pick up these messes. I hope others do to

Re 11: Fried… Totally agree re your response to MF.
What a broad-brush allegation, MF! Yes, some dog owners give the rest of us who are responsible a bad rep.
Deliberately stirring the pot, taking MF’s parallel sweeping generalizations further: could apply to other living beings here….
How about: too many late-adolescents in this town, who drunkenly puke or urinate on the street, w/out cleaning up after themselves?
Can’t tell you how ma

Re 13: Sorry, “submit” kicked in too soon….
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to deflect my dogs from piles of human puke, from early Fri. a.m. through early Mon. a.m.
So perhaps MF’s concern might be better targeted to a larger swathe of irresponsible human beings, some, but not all of them with dogs?
