What kind of cell do you use?

9/12/2008:

Are you a cell phone freak? Do you like to have the latest and greatest? Is a phone enough? Or do you need email, music, video, camera and everything else?

While I was catching up with Prison Break online, the only commercials they had were from Blackberry. That got me thinking – What are the cell phone preferences in Hoboken?

Personally, I would think those who are heavy email users would prefer the Blackberry – it’s just much easier to type. The other “real keyboard” phones don’t ever feel as intuitive as the Blackberry – but still much easier to type on than an iPhone (especially those with larger hands.)

But the iPhone is still a very slick device with tons of cool features. The browser is incredible, the photo handling is top-notch and of course, the music capability has it’s roots in the all-time leading mp3 iPod family. If I were to re-design the iPhone, I’d make it a combination touch-screen interface for the basic functions, and have a slide-out keyboard (horizontally) to do the heavy typing… Maybe that feature will come one or two generations from now?

Anyway, what are your cell phone preferences?

For what it’s worth, Consumers Union claims Verizon is the best service for this region. Multiple years.

I happen to hate my stupid Verizon “smartphone”/Treo. A total piece of unreliable crap.

I got the new Sprint Instinct…similar to the iphone. I love it! It cut my at home laptop time in half.

My cell phone’s screen has both colours: black and white. A you monochromatic cell phone people can just bask in my two-tone coolness.

Don’t fall for the same pitfall as I did and get the Treo 700wx with the Microsoft Operating System. I went through 4 of them since January and finally surrendered and went back to Blackberry.

Blackberry’s are half the cost but so much more efficient. The Treo concept is good but I had to ask myself how often do I really need to work on a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document on my PDA and was it worth the sluggishness and constant freezing.

I had to get rid of my ATT Blackberry due to no coverage in my apt., or even in my neighborhood. VZW seems to be working great but I hate my Voyager…will either be switching to one of the iphone-esque Blackberries coming to VZW or maybe a Jitterbug.
