Man on Wire

9/11/2008:

As we remember September 11th, Hoboken411 reader “estevens” wanted you to see this incredible documentary about the World Trade Center:

Man on Wire

“As we head into the anniversary of 9/11, I’d like to recommend to your viewers that they check out the 2008 documentary “Man on Wire” about Philippe Petit’s 1974 high-wire walk atop the World Trade Center. The film has already won a number of awards and is an engaging retelling of not only the act (which gave me the willies to watch) but the level of intensity and planning that went into pulling off the feat.

Interesting sidenote – Alan Welner, a Hoboken resident, appears in the film and was one of the “co-conspirators” in the execution of the wire-walk. The film has great footage of the WTC – I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants to remember it. It’s showing at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema – 124 E. Houston – and the Clearview at 1st and 62nd. ”

This was a fantastic film. When he finally takes that step out onto the wire – my heart exploded. If you like documentaries, this is a must-see.
