Hanna on the way out…

9/6/2008:
The “eye” (or what would have been the eye if it ever gained official hurricane status) is now to our east, it appears that the heavier rain is done for the night. That is, if you believe my meteorological skills of course.
Judging from recent radar images, the worst of the “sheets of rain” seem to have subsided. How much more impactful rain that comes southeast from the north or west remains to be seen. My “guesstimate” is that we should be OK for the most part.
I’ll update this entry if I’m wrong. Then I’ll go to night school to get my “weather degree,” so I don’t look like such a buffoon.
Also, we didn’t get any strong winds… what’s up with that? And I suggested that folks “secure” their patios or decks? Jeez.
Although, I do have to say I am hearing some wind gusts now… The forecast said that bigger wind gusts were coming around this time.. so peek outside from time to time.. help me out a bit!

I hope the winds don’t blow too much. Early this afternoon I decided to move my car from the street to the garage in case of flying objects such as those garbage cans some people were thinking of putting out to catch rain, and found it was dead — probably the battery. (Hope it’s the battery, anyway, and not something more complicated.)
I’ll have to waste a vacation day Monday getting it jumped so I can drive it, or towed if necessary, probably to the dealer in JC for whatever it needs. Normally I would go to Sunoco, especially since the warranty is long expired, but I have to go to the dealer anyway because there’s a recall on the windshield wiper assembly of all things.

Looking outside this morning, you would never have guessed it rained last night. Must say the city did a good job with clean up (up North anyway) after the deluge, they were out bright and early this morning.

I couldn’t agree with post #3, I live on Willow uptown and I got up and looked outside – bright and sunny, no debris or mess outside – couldn’t even tell there were remnants of a tropical storm passing through from yesterday.
