AS A PROPERTY MANAGEMENT CONPANY THEY ARE THE WORSE COMPANY EVER – YOUR PROPERTY WILL DETERIORATE AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. THEY JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY AND POCKET IT!!!
SAVE YOURSELF A HUGE HEADACHE AND LOOK FOR ANOTHER COMPANY – THEIR MAFIA MENTALITY IS HORRIBLE, THEY BULLY THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THEY JUST DON’T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING BUT THEMSELVES – HORRIBLE SERVICE – THEY WILL NEVER GIVE YOU ACCURATE NUMBERS TO LET PROPERTY OWNERS KNOW WHERE THE MONEY WENT. JOHN LABARBARA/ SHOULD BE PUT IN JAIL. THEY ARE RUNNING A “LEGAL MAFIA” – WORSE REAL-ESTATE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY IN THE AREA!

Avoid this management at all costs. We recently left them after three years and are happily moving on to try a new company. Vinny managed our account. Overall, we felt like we never had a clear account of where our money was going. I am also pretty sure Vinny never set foot in our building. All he really did, was call in several companies to look at a problem we had. He never could provide us with professional advice. We always had to figure things out for ourselves and would often call in a few additional companies to provide quotes. We basically had to manage our own building with many issues even though we were paying RELB. The list of reasons we left is fairly lengthy. Missing invoices, being charged double for the same bills, paying building bills on a timely manner, lack of building maintenance, etc.

The worst offense of all was that in the end, when we left RELB, they were completely unethical and dishonest with our money. Vinny spent the money however he wanted, despite the requests we made. On top of it all he hit us with a $2,000 fee for early termination.

I would never do business again with RELB.

I got in contact with the agent Ashok (Shoookie) Singh about renting an apartment in Jersey City Heights. We set up to meet at the apartment on a Monday at 6pm. He was over 10 minutes late. I understand that people can be late, but what I don’t understand is how an agent (in this market and charging a fee!) wouldn’t even call a potential customer to say he is running late. I called the office and the receptionist told me she would give me his number (I didn’t have his cell number because he had called me before from the office number). Since I couldn’t take notes at the moment, I said it was okay, that I was going to leave. I had to teach and didn’t want to be late. He called me at 6:12 and without acknowledging he was late or apologizing, he left me a message yelling: “hey, where are you? We had an appointment at 6!” Well, exactly! I called him back and left him a message saying I’d been there and even talked to the people who live on the first floor. One woman even got there, parked her car and asked me if I was there to see the apartment. The other man asked me to call “John Salierno”. I said John wasn’t my realtor. A few days later, I decided to give it another try with this company and David Lucia (another realtor) was trying to help me. When he couldn’t anymore, he… Read more »

What action? Unless you are discriminated against bc of race, age, sex or something else….you’re not entitled to any damages. Did you have a contract with them? If not, they’re not obligated to work with you just as you don’t have to work with them. Maybe not best for business…..but they certainly don’t owe you anything. And 10 mins. late is not all that bad — NYC area….traffic causes people to be late all the time. Sure, he should have called…..but relax….10 minutes.[quote comment=”214529″]I got in contact with the agent Ashok (Shoookie) Singh about renting an apartment in Jersey City Heights. I have been in the commercial real estate business for 10+ years and working on Washington Street for the last 4 years. My experience in dealing with LaBarbera Property Management has been, by far, one of the worst in my career. I deal with property management firms nationwide on a daily basis and LaBarbera’s lack of elementary real estate terminology and principles baffles me, not to mention what can be considered unethical and immoral actions. Vinny LaBarbera is unreachable on the phone and only replies in brief unprofessional emails which are so full of grammatical errors they are practically illegible.

When I first came to town I had heard LaBarbera was a decent company and therefore recommended them to clients. Now I am DEEPLY regretting this and now having my in-house counsel look at how our clients can get out of the very same contract I suggested they enter. While I realize I should have done my due diligence, the thought that my company would be in any way associated to LaBabera Property Management is no longer acceptable to me. Good luck on finding property management and steer clear of LaBarbera.

My parents bought a condo from Realty Express over 20 years ago. Just recently I rented a place with them, in a building which is also managed by them, and I have to say that I have been very pleased with the level and quality of their services.

It’s not often that you can say your parents and you BOTH used the same Real Estate agency, since so many tend to come and go. The longevity factor was one of the primary reasons I chose Realty Express for my rental. I know that a rental isn’t nearly as huge as a purchase, but these people (i.e. the agents and broker) don’t make you feel at all guilty about it. I guess it was just the guilt in my own head! (You know, feeling bad that all the work they did for me resulted in a simple rental not a purchase. When I am ready to buy, however, they’ll be the ones I go to!)

Anyway, if you’re looking for top notch agents, a company that really CARES (hard to find in today’s world) and people that operate on solid principles and especially integrity, this is a no brainer! Go for Realty Express.

Good luck! 🙂
