More privileged parking

7/3/2008 Update:

Just to “add fuel to the flame,” a different Hoboken411 reader sent in another picture to back up the lack of street cleaning violations this van got yesterday.

“Why can’t everyone catch a break like this?” One person asked me on the street last night… My response: “I don’t know the real answer, but I reckon is has something to do with WHO you know…” In fact, a few years ago I called the HPD asking for a street-cleaning courtesy because I was waiting for the roadside assistance to come jump a dead battery. You know what happened? I got a friggin ticket anyway.

7/1/2008:

Here’s another reader email about yet additional incidents of “privileged parking” in Hoboken:

Yo, Stan, what up?

“What’s the deal with Stan’s Sports? There seems to be lots of guys walking in an out of that place that don’t appear* to be in the sports industry. I dunno. Just a hunch. Jimmy Farina’s a regular visitor. I’ve also seen Chris Campos. Are they counting cards or something? And they don’t seem to be a well stocked sports store. Someone told me they supply the city and schools with sports equipment. Sounds like something that leads to privileged treatment. As in this morning when the street cleaner officer issued tickets to the vehicles in front of and behind the Stan’s van but did not ticket Stan’s van. And a few minutes later Jimmy Farina walked in. What’s the scoop on this place?

Kudos to Hoboken 411 and the person/snitch who sent in the photos. 🙂 For the last week I have no longer seen the Stan’s Van parked in the spot by the bus stop which was illegal. This is evidence that citizens of Hoboken if they remain vigilant can stop the tide of special treatment and favoritism that some seem to feel entitled to. Together we can chip away at the kleptocracy of Hoboken and bring fairness to the political table, a concept that seems to be lacking in some of our current leaders.

I am also cognizant that businesses may need to park temporarily for deliveries in order to stay viable. I would like to see the council clarify the current statutes in this matter so that the appearance of favoritism can be eliminated.
It’s one thing to park in the yellow lines to take a delivery but quite another to leave the vehicle overnight and have the Parking authority look the other way. Kudos to Stan’s for finally obeying the rules like the rest of us.

Bada boom! Bada bing!

For some reason the quote came out wrong. I hope it’s right now.

It is very odd that you have only 1 SN and about half a dozen other SNs that are just like you magically appear at the same time and sound the same tune as you. I’m calling BS on you on that one.

So let me get this straight, I am supposed to apologize for other people having similar signons and views like I do? Ok sorry.
More than one person saying you’re retarded doesn’t mean Matt has multiple names, it means you’re retarded. Seriously, have you read your posts? 🙄
Don’t you just love it when some BNR Hobokenite starts telling those of us that are “BNR Elsewhere” how things are done OUTSIDE of Hoboken? I find that real funny…….it is like watching a fat guy tell a marathon runner how to get in shape.
F*n hilarious!! You’re SOOOO right. These people go to Queens to visit the “Old Country” and suddenly they’re experts on “other cities”. Idiots. 👿

Hey, Matt 72..That was so witty. Good Job, Dolt.
“How many SN’s do you have? Can you just stick with 1 for a change? Do you get paid by the word or by the post? Or does your job description include posting online?”

“And your use of caps in all the wrong places suggests you and one of your other personalities/SNs are equally bad at writing. I think you need to go back to your old HS for some remedial writing classes.
”

Again, quite witty. I have one SN and I speak my mind. You on the other hand say nothing but the negative. Do you have any suggestions to make anything better? All you do is complain. I think someone needs a nap or a hug, which one is it? 8O
