   I live near Fiores, where there are many strays. I’ve read about Trap-Neuter-Return programs. Do you have any opinions?

   I know it is hard to get every stray cat off the street, but there is something that could be done to make sure they don’t keep bring more kittens into the world, that will add to the stray population.

   I have lots of opinions and they usually get me in trouble. Hoboken contracts with Newark for Animal Control. To the best of my knowledge they do not provide a “neuter scooter” program. LHS, Liberty Humane, does provide such a program, but Hoboken is not contracted with that facility. I am 100% in favor of trap/neuter/release programs. There are many feral cats that will never be house cats but the population explosion and the inevitable inhumane death of cats and kittens can be altered by a trap and neuter program. If you find a cat in your area that you can trap (we can provide traps if you need one) you will be doing a great service to trap the cat, neuter and release. Jeff/Cornerstone

   Jeff - What do you mean by the “inevitable inhumane death” of cats and kittens? Do you mean them being put down? I think that if they are neutered, they have a better life living outside than in a cage in some kennel. I would be in support of forming a group/signing a petition to the mayor to get Hoboken a “neuter scooter”. Up near me, at 14th and Bloom, there are at least 15 stray cats (and I adopted one of the kittens that they had). I am sure they will have more kittens and the population will grow.
