7th Annual Hoboken Baby Parade

The 2008 Hoboken Baby Parade

Despite the threat of rain many people braved the weather for this year’s Baby Parade. It began with a lineup at Sinatra Park. The strollers were then forced into the street by the construction surrounding the still not finished World War II Memorial before passing the long delayed Pier C Park. Then it was a walk up the Waterfront Walkway to Pier A, where Mayor David Roberts originally wanted to put a high-rise office building.
Happily, parks advocates prevailed and the baby parade rounded a beautiful park before coming to an end in front of the fountains. Awards were given to the babies and families with the most festive costumes. There were so many cute babies to choose from. Check out all the photos to see if you can find anyone you know, including an elected official or two.
Special thanks to Hoboken411 reader Gabriella for the pictures!!

New Photo Gallery Beta Test
I’m finally testing out a new gallery today. It’s pretty intuitive, and should need no explanation how to use it. C’mon, be adventurous and give it a try!
See original announcement after the jump!
5/6/2008:
The Annual Baby Parade takes place again Sunday May 18th at 1pm. Camp out anywhere between Sinatra Park to Pier A to get a glimpse of our city’s bundles of joy.
See last years entry for a description. Rain Date is Sunday, June 1st. Don’t want a wet baby now, do we?

*7th Annual Hoboken Baby Parade* ??
“Identical twins Isabella and Jordan, 16 months old, also won a best carriage award. These little princesses came over from Ridgewood to march in the parade.”
This is getting like the Hoboken Ragamuffin Parade where people from out of town come to Hoboken to win bikes and trophies.

katie scarlet should never breed — plus she would make an ugly baby anyway

Next thing you’re gonna hit us up for is a bell tower for your kid to play in.

That’s why it is different than any other day on washington street.

So to summarize,
- no one has an issue with a “parade”/organized stroll for those who choose to take part
- many take issue with poorly behaved children in a restaurant at any time, and especially after 8pm both of which are fair enough and parents should oblige by getting babysitters or by hightailing it home before their misbehaved/poorly disciplined children disrupt others meal
- Some of you posters are down right nasty conclusion drawers, who, if you had children, would probably be awful little tikes we all hope to avoid

I just wanna know why babies from Ridgewood (and other towns) are winning awards in the 7th Annual HOBOKEN Baby Parade. I think we have enough kids who live in town to select from.

I asked somebody who went to the Baby Parade about this. They said they didn’t announce where the award winners came from. Everyone assumed they were from Hoboken until it was reported in the paper that these people were from Bergen County.
Looking at 411’s photo gallery it looks like some parents made an effort to dress up their kids and carriages, while others just came out to enjoy the day. Seems like a nice event.

Katie Scarlett clearly doesn’t like children. She clearly doesn’t like a lot of things. What she does clearly like is this message board. In fact, it seems to be the bulk of her social life. I ignore her. She turns up in every post, bitches, whines and is negative and rude. She’s rather sad. When she annoys you, just remember at least the Hoboken411 website doesn’t constitute YOUR social life. If it did, you’d surely by bitter, surly and obnoxious too.

Excellent points springtime – I haven’t posted in this thread in almost 2 weeks (but let’s revive it), and 99% of my posts on this board are before 5pm, so I must not have a social life outside of this board. . . because everyone’s social life starts at 7:30am and ends at 5pm. Or is that when I’m working? Hmmmm.
FTR, I don’t hate kids and I certainly wasn’t posting at 10pm on a holiday weekend.

Just ignore douchebag Springtime – s/he is just trying to turn the feelings s/he has for his/herself on someone else. It’s always obvious by use of the word “bitter.”

That so called museum is selling shirts
and pawning off faux treasures in wanna be auctions. It has deteriorated in interest for years! The history was done right and plagiarized and they still haven’t made up for the
fraud they committed…When they do it might be worth something. I ignore anything they do.
