Today is “Parking D-Day”

3/17/2008:

Other than the couple hundred people that read the Hoboken Reporter, you’re probably one of the residents that don’t know that today is the absolute deadline for renewing or signing up for a resident parking decal.

I’ve tried renewing my permit already, and they make it insanely difficult.. a drivers license and registration isn’t enough. You need your original permit renewal application, or a power bill and lease, etc. to renew.

If you haven’t already, get down there TODAY!

i think they’ll have my info in the system from when i had a residential decal in 2005, but i’m sure they’ll need something else for me to just buy some visitor passes. guess i should bring my lease.

There is no reason a hoboken resident and taxpayers must have to pay to park in this meatball town. Also lilly try and get someone after 6pm via phone.Secondly many vehicles that have a pkg sticker with out of state plates is inproper..DMV states that a change of reg is between 30 or and 60 days..No excuses no speical patronage. This pkg nonsense started out as a non profit thing 40 yrs ago and prior to that a policeman patrolled the meters.at a dollar or two summons. The envorcement began when cutie pies from out of town parked in Hoboken then took transit to work in NYC..Now its a golden cow thanks to davey red vest once mayor of fun city…Whos fault?? everyones fault/

Yeh, you’re right. I prefer the old days where a Hoboken parking ticket cost less than paying to park in a garage.

Ok thanks I think my visitor tried to go without me two years ago she beat me home from work and had to wait till I (the resident) got there.

No you don’t. If you prove you are a resident you can buy the visitor parking permits at City Hall. I have bought a few and keep them on hand for when out of town people drive in.
what are the office hours? closed on saturdays if i recall? need to pick up some visitor permits.
Check the city’s website. Maybe the hours are on there, but I doubt it! They don’t even post the parking meter enforcement hours. Last year I sent a recommendation for them to add it to the website but of course, no response to me or change to the website. I still don’t know the hours, and they aren’t posted on the meters like every other city. I guess that’s too simple for HPU. They’d rather collect the parking ticket revenue instead of inform the community. 👿
