Hoboken Flood Watch

Flood watch in effect for Hoboken NJ

flood watch hobokenWeather nerds have been monitoring this “Nor’Easter” that’s expected to slowly hug the east coast this week. At this time, the Hoboken area is under a “flood watch,” with rain of 2 to 3 inches expected tomorrow (potentially more). High tides tomorrow are approximately 10am and 10:30pm, but hopefully this won’t be a problem, because it’s not expected to be one of those “intense” downpour like storms, just a steady rain. But with the rain we had this past weekend, be on the lookout for possibly flooded spots in the usual areas of town Here’s the current “watch:”

“THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WATCH FOR HUDSON COUNTY FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH LATE TUESDAY NIGHT.

A SLOW MOVING COASTAL LOW WILL PARALLEL THE EASTERN SEABOARD ON TUESDAY, PASSING ACROSS EASTERN LONG ISLAND IN THE EVENING.

HEAVY RAINFALL WILL SPREAD INTO THE REGION TUESDAY MORNING AND PERSIST THROUGH MOST OF THE DAY.

RAIN WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES WITH 2 TO 3 INCHES POSSIBLE BY THE TIME THE EVENT ENDS TUESDAY NIGHT, WITH LOCALIZED HIGHER AMOUNTS. THE MAIN IMPACT WILL BE URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING, BUT SOME SMALL RIVERS AND STREAM ACROSS NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AND THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY MAY REACH OR EXCEED BANKFULL. THIS SAME REGION RECEIVED 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAINFALL JUST A COUPLE OF DAY AGO.”
