Hoboken City Council Meeting of September 17, 2013

Inspect Hoboken City Council meeting documents below – and click here at 7:00pm to watch live video stream if you’re a sucker for punishment. Another “off schedule” meeting today because of some holiday that 96% of the population knows nothing about.

Anyway – let’s see what charades takes place this week.. Besides the usual bonding – guess what? The city wants to start using license plate recognition to PICKPOCKET more people. Do you really think the HPU makes living in Hoboken better or worse? Depends who’s asking the question of course, as coffers at city hall are bursting with $5 million bucks a year because of them. Sucks, because that money could help revive the local economy instead of padding the pockets of contractors, contributors and cronies.

Not sure what this reader will be used for, but if it discourages people from out of town from parking in resident only zoned, then I am all for it. I can’t imagine with the rents, prices, and taxes that we all pay to live here that making it a little easier for a resident to find a parking spot is something to complain about. And if you park illegally you get what’s coming to you. HPU needs to put some people on Sunday duty- the intersections around downtown east of Willow are overflowing with cars parked in crosswalks all day. Does a pedestrian, runner, child, or even dog have to get mowed down trying to cross the street with zero visibility because of illegally parked cars before the city decides to enforce the law?
