Prison or Playground?

Hoboken Photo illusion at 1600 Park: Prison or Playground?

I bet if you showed someone who didn’t live in Hoboken – and asked them, “Guess what this photo is?” They’d probably study it, notice the nondescript buildings and industrial fencing and say “A prison play yard?” Haha! Well, they’re partially correct, because this field at 1600 park is practically off-limits to most people who don’t shell out the $125 / hour permit fee. And I can bet if you try to use it when it’s otherwise occupied, you’d end up going to prison yourself.

Lovely, right?

I see this park much differently. The rec leagues of Hoboken barely have enough space for their teams to play games, let alone practice. The soccer league for children of this town have to scramble to find places to play at all, while the baseball league can’t find practice times for the teams. I see the town doing something about it and building another field for them. They built a beautiful and safe field to increase the amount of practice and game times the kids will get on the field. I’m not a parent, but if it were my kid in these leagues I’d be psyched about the positive change.

FEMA camp is more like it.
