Hoboken For Rent – Burnt out building!

Burnt out Zaklama building for rent in Hoboken, NJ

I found this sight quite funny and sad at the same time.

Remember that Zaklama property (Nardine’s) at 1st & Jackson that burnt to a crisp back in late 2011? Well – there’s a big “for rent” sign on it now.

On the surface, it looks ridiculous. Who would want to rent out a useless crumbled property? “So you’re saying I can erect a new building with my own money, then continue paying you rent for it?”

Either way – you might also remember that 4th Ward Councilman Tim Occhipinti suggesting that this property (and the one across the street) get converted to some useful park space. That’s probably going nowhere fast because the current administration doesn’t like supporting anything unless they can take credit for it.

Ironically – there are plenty of things they can take credit for! Potholes, closed parks, lack of focus on infrastructure, and much more!

But if you’re interested – call Sherif Fanous at (201)401-1677.

The For Rent signs have been on the building for over a year now. They went up even before they did the asbestos remediation there(which apparently is code for “toss tarps over the top of the foundation”)

The smell of mildew/mold coming from the building is overpowering some days.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
