Hoboken roller rink park looks unused

How come no one ever uses the Hoboken roller rink park?

Back in the day – the Hoboken roller rink park was used often, even creating complaints from neighbors about the massive flood lights blinding the neighborhood.

Now, it seems that the Hoboken roller rink isn’t being used at all – causing some residents to wonder why. With people bitching about the lack of open space, and we need more parks, and so on – what seems to be the issue with this space? I can be used for a multitude of purposes!

Heck – you could even have a “Southwest Hoboken Farmers Market” in this space without hurting traffic or depleting parking.

The last 50 times I’ve walked by here, the gates have been locked. Oh well, sad when that is what is the norm in Hoboken…

It’s not open because the Mayor has no plan. She has a Director who cares only about soccer. You’ll notice that the Little League field is getting resurfaced again while everyone who uses the field agrees that the surface was fine. The Skate Park isn’t open because nobody has been assigned to keep it open. The Skate Park is testimony as to how inept the Mayor is when it comes to the day to day operation of the city.

Seems that anytime I see the park being used it is from kids jumping over the fence. Is this specially reserved for Friends of Zimmer leagues like the Metermaid Sacs’ Soccer Club?

my point exactly! I was trying to go there this past sunday and all the gates were locked! I live two blocks away and would go there more often if the area was open for residents to use…i mean isnt that what the parks are for??

Doesn’t the Hoboken Hockey League (HHL) play here? I’m sure they take a break during the winter months, but I always see games here during the spring, summer and fall.

It does upset me that the gates always seem to be locked unless there is an HHL hockey game because it restricts residents from using it on a daily basis. There are basketball hoops around the rink that should be available to everyone.
