Neutral faces, people!

NJ DMV doesn’t want anyone to smile – Facial Recognition

Since I mentioned facial recognition in Hoboken earlier – it reminded me of a photo I took on my phone recently.

When renewing my drivers license (which I did in Bayonne, much faster than other locations!), I noticed these signs near the camera booth which instructs peasants drivers NOT to make any kind of faces. To just be “neutral.”

They don’t care what color your hair is, or how tan your are – just your face. Although the DMV “claims” they’re doing this to prevent fraud – it has been said it’s part of a facial recognition database that is being built.

Remember that movie Minority Report?

NJ DMV facial recognition rules neutral expression - Neutral faces, people!
