Massive Hurricane Sandy relief concert: 12-12-12

A massive charity concert is being held next week to raise money for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The “12-12-12” concert takes place at Madison Square Garden on December 12th starting at 7:30pm, and will raise money for the Robin Hood Relief Fund. It’s apparently going to be broadcast to one billion people. TV stations, movie theaters and streaming online. 12-12-12 The Concert for Sandy Relief

In an effort to share the extraordinary “12-12-12” concert for Sandy Relief with many of those most impacted by this storm, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, The Madison Square Garden Company and The Weinstein Company today announced that this unprecedented event will be simulcast live in select movie theaters in hurricane-affected areas throughout the tri-state region. This presentation will be FREE of charge to all attendees and complimentary refreshments will be provided.

Select theatres from Clearview Cinemas, Bow Tie Cinemas, Frank Theatres, Marquee Cinemas, National Amusements and Rave Cinemas to participate. Free tickets are available now at the participating theater box offices, and will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Event producers James Dolan, John Sykes and Harvey Weinstein issued the following joint statement: “The live simulcast of this historic benefit concert in movie theatres will provide a welcome opportunity for those people still recovering from the devastation to have an enjoyable and much-needed night out. Seeing this incredible all-star lineup on the big screen and hearing it in surround sound will certainly make for a memorable evening.”

This special one-night-only live music event will benefit the Robin Hood Relief Fund and help provide assistance to people throughout the tri-state area who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. “12-12-12” The Concert For Sandy Relief, will take place on December 12, 2012 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The all-star lineup includes Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and Paul McCartney, with other artists to be announced.

The concert is being produced by James Dolan, Executive Chairman of The Madison Square Garden Company; John Sykes, President of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises; and Harvey Weinstein, Co-Founder and Chairman of The Weinstein Company. The concert is being presented by Chase.

Thanks to the generosity of concert organizers, sponsors, and Robin Hood’s board of directors, every single penny from ticket purchases and donations will go to serve the victims of Hurricane Sandy through the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which is providing money, material and know-how to local organizations that are serving families and individuals in the regions hardest hit by the storm.
