HPU taunts residents

Hoboken Parking Utility brazen about breaking the law

Below is a letter and some photos from a local resident regarding what appears to be “business as usual” at the Hoboken Parking Utility.

“Take a look at this Hoboken Parking Utility employee who parked his car in the middle of Garden and Third while he ticketed other cars on Garden. When I asked him about it, he said he “had permission” from the Hoboken Police, and cockily suggested calling them. This guy was such a jerk. Can’t believe cops would approve parking in the middle of the street and blocking cars as opposed to just parking elsewhere to allow flow of traffic.”

Sounds like HPU was doing the right thing by redirecting traffic. I’ve been stuck behind HFD responding to calls mid-block, with nobody present to direct traffic, and it’s not a good situation. Also prefer that HPU officers get out of their vehicle to place tickets; I think those carts have been ‘trading paint’ with parked cars as they pull as close as possible to avoid stepping out.

when i start seeing cars ticketed/chased in front of benny tudinos or the baptist church on washington i’ll begin to respect HPU moderately.

Wonder if one of these photo takers will post the picture of their colon or uterus when a disgruntled HPU worker shoves their camera up where the sun don’t shine?

Doo Dah, Doo Dah. And if I supported a cop, I’d be a cop. If support for a fireman, I’d be a fireman. No I don’t know the guy, and I don’t have a city job. Who ever thought a postal worker would flip out. Shit happens dude!
You sound like a very classy commentator ~ probably a friend of the HPU guy!
I saw this as well. Yes they were towing a car.
However, when you read about HPU ticketing those PSE&G guys, along with everything else (letting certain business owners double park all day without repercussion- free cheesesteaks maybe?), HPU loses as good will or benefit of doubt. It’s a thankless job but they could certainly do better.
