John Krawiec – “Awareness”

Hoboken Barista John Krawiec featured at NJCU art show

Anyone who was a regular at the Uptown Hoboken Starbucks, most likely knew John Krawiec, a super-nice barista, and a genuinely great person. He manages the downtown Starbucks now in case you’re wondering where he went, and if you didn’t know – he’s finishing up his degree in Jewelry / Metalsmithing over at NJCU in Jersey City – and wants everyone to know that he has an exhibition starting next week!

“Awareness,” a collection of works by John Krawiec will be on display at the Visual Arts Gallery of NJCU (map) from April 16th until April 20th.

The show consists of 12 pieces of “Art Jewelry” and three photographs. The exhibition will be open to the public on Monday April 16th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

Various colored stones set into the pieces are one of the focal points of this exhibition. The clean lines and overall design of the works captivate the audience. Krawiec uses a variety of techniques in creating the work to show both broad technical skill and flexibility in the medium.

The piece Satellite (2012) (seen above) consists of both Nickel and Sterling Silver paired with a 9mm Cubic Zirconia faceted stone. The design of the ring draws the viewers’ eye inward
toward the stone glittering at the center. That moment of exploration is what the artist strives for in his work.

John Krawiec lives and works in New Jersey. He has shown in various group shows in both New Jersey and New York City. He was the recipient of the Elizabeth J. Foster Scholarship and the Friends of Art and Music Scholarship during his BFA career.

Nice to see folks in Hoboken follow their dreams and succeed!
