Parking Offenders on Film – 8/17/2007

Meant to post this a while ago, but here you go!

411 reader Jordan noticed this miniature car sitting unmoved and unticketed for weeks, but thinks he may have found a loophole that can save people from getting ticketed!

“The following red car has been parked in the exact same location for the past 4-5 weeks. The car is on Thirteenth Street (cross street is Adams Street). It is located across the street from the 1301 and 1201 Upper Grand buildings. Although it is located on a “Thursday street” for street cleaning, it has never been moved nor ticketed. There is a note in the window that says “Battery Died. Please Don’t Ticket.” I have seen other cars in the area ticketed for not moving their cars for street cleaning, yet this car is immune to police ticketing. I do not understand this. Can anyone explain this? Perhaps, this person has paid off the Hoboken parking/ticketing people.

Maybe I have discovered a loop-hole in alternate side of the street parking in Hoboken. Maybe all you need to do to avoid a ticket for alternate side of the street parking is to put a note on your car saying your battery is dead. I don’t know. The car also has a flat tire. See pictures below:”

This morning I saw (sorry no picture, maybe 411 can send Oscar over) a red Volvo wagon on 10th between Park and Garden with a sign “Please don’t ticket – car won’t start”. This person obviously doesn’t know the right people, there was ticket on the windshield.

This evening around 10 PM saw five (5) illegally parked cars at intersection of 8th & Park. No camera with me to post a picture for this site. One car was in front of a fire hydrant near the corner. One car was on painted crosswalk in the intersection. One car was on hatched marks blocking view of oncoming traffic for anyone headed up Park Avenue. Accident tonight waiting to happen.. .

I happened to call this into HPD and I suggested they come out with a tow truck. Dispatcher didn’t sound too interested and simply asked me if I wanted to wait around for an officer. I told him I had to go home, but “I’m sure the officer would figure out which cars should be towed.”

Who wants to bet none of those cars will be ticketed or towed tonight? It would be a terrible shame if someone gets injured in an accident in that intersecton this evening. It is also ashame the way our police and elected officials do not see this as an urgent public safety problem that needs their active attention.

How many vehicles have been sideswiped at intersections, due to blocked views by illegally parked cars since this site started tracking the problem. I’ve lived here for many years, and I observe that illegal parking near intersections has gotten much worse just in the past 12 months. Why the lax enforcement?

I saw this car trying to drive thru the 4th and Jackson Flood(the big one). I laughed my ass off when he got stuck screaming on his cell phone with water up to the middle of the door. I bet thats what caused the battery problems, WHAT could he have been thinking!

[quote comment=”42141″ I wonder if a few of us rotate his car by 90 degrees so that it is perpendicular to the sidewalk, if then he will get towed. Hah.[/quote]

I’m in!
when do you want to “rotate his tires”? 😈

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
