Tribal Home – New Location

Tribal Home has new Hoboken location: 38 Jackson St.

In case you didn’t know – fine rug and furniture store Tribal Home – which used to be located on Washington Street between 7th & 8th – has a new home downtown at 38 Jackson Street.

You can reach them pretty much every day of the week at (201)683-7770 or (201)217-3000. Be sure you call ahead, because unlike their retail spot on the avenue, they may be out on calls (they do eco-rug cleaning as well.)

I happen to buy a nice rug for my office for just $50 recently myself! Good quality without the brand name sticker price.

Tribal Home still selling rugs at 706 Washington St. in Hoboken

11/17/2011 Update:

In case you didn’t know – even though Tribal Home rugs left their shop at 722 Washington Street, they quickly had setup a temporary “closeout” shop down the road at 706 Washington Street (former home of The Wishing Tree Gift Shop.)

Well, that temporary location has stuck around for quite a while, and they’ll be offering discount rugs through at least the holiday season this year. So check it out! (In fact, I saw a nice piece that I may pick up this weekend…)

Last day for Tribal Home – April 22nd!

Just a quick update here – Tribal Home is wrapping everything up this week – and they’re liquidating their inventor – everything must go, and will be sold at cost or below!

Check out what they got – you never know what gems you might find!

Tribal Home going out of business in Hoboken

Another Hoboken retail establishment bites the dust.

Tribal Home Furniture is Doomed in Hoboken NJ

Bad for Tribal Home, but good if you want rug discounts

It took less than four years, but Tribal Home Furniture is going out of business – and will be offering discounts for everything in the store – including some rug discounts (for now) up to 75% off their previously over-inflated costs.

This retail spot, regardless if the quality of merchandise inside was good or not – had a very unappealing exterior, and didn’t give many people that “Oooh, I have to go inside!!” feeling. Too bad… in the end, it probably comes down on the Hoboken Historical Commission, which has destroyed countless small businesses in the past due to their ideological (and economically illogical) standards. Tsk, tsk.

7/19/2007 Update:

Tribal Home Hoboken opens on Washington St.

I incorrectly stated yesterday “coming soon.” Tribal Home has been open since last Friday, owner Ibrahim Atila told me. They’ve had their worldwide web store successfully in operation for the past 10 years. You can contact the store at 201-217-3000.

Here’s a few pictures. See the rest after the break.

Coming soon to 722 Washington Street (replacing the doomed and evicted Luscious Paper) is Tribal Home.

TribalHome is apparently a web-based business currently operating out of 38 Jackson Street. They have a comprehensive web-based business selling “handmade oriental rug and kilim ,iznik, handpainted ceramic, evil eye, kilim furniture, home furnishing and gift items…”

Anything to beautify that kind of crappy stretch of prime Washington St. real estate is welcome!

They do have nice things in the store. Are these really rock-bottom prices as it’s claimed?

Does anybody know the market for these rugs, to speak to the idea that they maintain their value over many years, if kept in good quality? The person I spoke to in the store was very nice, and how can you not be impressed by the designs of these rugs? Just not sure if I should make this rather large purchase, as I really don’t know the market. Seems like a good value at their current prices.

I don’t believe tribal home is going out of business. They are closing this location due to the rents

I really liked that store. I’m going to miss them as well. They had really interesting and nice merchandise. The owner is a nice person. I didn’t know it was rent related. “That Sucks!” I should have figured that out. I wonder if they are connected to Zin Home on 1st&Park. They are another great business. I hope they are still there. It’s been awhile since I was in that part of town.
I don’t believe tribal home is going out of business. They are closing this location due to the rents
I know this sounds petty, but those shutters and that awning drive me nuts! I bet they could do a quick & cheap makeover on the front of these two storefronts that would make a world of differnence.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
