Summer Monday Movie Series

Tonight’s movie (in the air-conditioned All-Saints Parish – 707 Washington St.) is “Summertime”.

“Summertime is a 1955 film directed by David Lean and starring Katharine Hepburn and Rossano Brazzi. It was adapted by H. E. Bates, Lean and Donald Ogden Stewart (uncredited) from the play The Time of the Cuckoo by Arthur Laurents.

Summertime tells the story of an American woman who falls in love in while on holiday in Venice. It was filmed entirely on location in Venice.

It received Academy Award n ominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Katharine Hepburn) and Best Director. In Britain, the film was initially released under the title Summer Madness.”
