Cell phone providers

poor cell service in hoboken - Cell phone providersHere we have a reader who’s concerned about her Sprint cell service in the southwest area of Hoboken.

While we’re at it, we know Apple recently teamed up with AT&T / Cingular for their iPhone launch, what cell provider do you use? I personally dislike Verizon for many reasons, and have been using T-Mobile for the past 5 years. They have the cheapest plans (for Blackberry at least) and fantastic customer service. But I digress.

She writes:

“Hey Hoboken411,

Last Friday morning I noticed that I couldn’t make or recieve any cell calls from my apt on 4th and Madison (I have a Sprint account). Weird thing was by the time I walked to Church Square Park my phone was back to working as usual. Later the same day I walked into the Sprint store on Washington and complained about service. They told me they were aware of a problem with a cell phone tower and it would be fixed by Monday. Now its a week later and I still can’t use my phone at my apt. After numerous calls to Sprint customer service and 3 visits to the store I am left with no answer as to why service was disrupted. The store tells me to call customer service, and customer service tell me its a problem with my phone (which it certainly isn’t). Just wondering if any other Hobokenites with Sprint are having the same problem.

I am about to cancel my account but I’m furious that they would make me pay a $200 cancellation fee for a service they are not providing. I know I basically have to die to get out of paying the fee but just wondering if there was anyone else in the same position.”

Astro – I could kiss you! I have been battling with Sprint for several months and called that number today and finally got all my problems rectified! I still think Sprint SUCKS but at least I got an english speaking CS rep that made things happen. Thanks for posting that #.

Hmm according to the last article, they could have extended your contract by 2 more years when you called them

Whatever the problem was is fixed for me now. I called several times and finally the last person said she would send out someone to check the towers, reception, etc. She also said that I would get a follow up call (that did not happen). In any case, my phone works.

Well this is definitely rage worthy and If i am a sprint customer i would be read this and cancel my contract
