Gallery 1200 Opens in Hoboken

Laura Renee Meyerson Hoboken NJ Artist and Gallery 1200 Curator

It was a beautiful Sunday night to stop by the newest gallery of emerging artists in Hoboken, Gallery 1200 at the corner of 12th and Washington.

While musicians performed jazz ensembles, and wine and cheese was being served, the bustling crowd got a sneak peak at the work of featured artists: Laura Renee Meyerson, Ibou Ndoye, Roslyn Rose, Don Sichler, Liz Cohen, Cid Mendez, and Sterne Slaven.

Gallery 1200 is a Made in Hoboken, Community Inspired venture. For more information, please visit:

What is Gallery 1200 in Hoboken?

Local artist Laura Renee Meyerson wants everyone to know about a new artists venue at 12th & Washington Street: Gallery 1200 – which celebrates their grand opening this Sunday, October 2nd from 6-9pm.

“A gallery and community space dedicated to providing local artists a venue for their work and a meeting space for local organizations. The space will also host ongoing donation based workshops giving people from the community a place to come to learn or try something new. Workshops will voluntarily be given by local artists, dancers, yoga instructors, etc. We have a website in progress which will host a calendar of events and workshops.

The space is being sponsored by the Mason Family Civic League and directed by Laura Renee Meyerson. Volunteers are welcome and donations are appreciated.”

Where did the Idea come from?

“I have lived in Hoboken for 8 years now as an artist and have exhibited at several public locations including The Hoboken Historical Museum, Right Angle, Starbucks, Sovereign Bank, Fast Frame, the Arts and Music Festival, Hoboken Studio Tour, and several group shows with Hob_Art cooperative.

I am always keeping my eye out for spaces to exhibit my work in Hoboken. A few months back I asked Councilwoman Beth Mason if I could put some of my artwork in the storefront of a space she was using for her campaign for councilwoman at 1200 Washington St. She happily agreed and I got great feedback from the community about my artwork. It was such a great opportunity and location that I wanted to give other local artists the same opportunity. After the campaign I came up with a plan to keep the space open as Gallery 1200… a community space. Gallery 1200 is being sponsored by the Mason Family Civic League and is run on donations, volunteer work, and heart.”

The event will include live Jazz music, along with wine & cheese. Besides Laura Renee’s work – other featured artists include: Ibou Ndoye, Roslyn Rose, Don Sichler, Liz Cohen, Cid Mendez and Sterne Slaven.
