BoE vehicles steal residential parking!

Hoboken Board of Ed hogs street parking to save spots for themselves

People living near the Wallace School on Clinton Street between 11th & 12th are peeved! Not only is the Hoboken school system a huge part of the bloated city budget, but they also take parking spots away from area residents!

As you can see in the photographic evidence below, up to TEN residential street parking spaces were stolen by buses and other official vehicles – all while the lot next to the building remained empty. Residents told Hoboken411 that they do this to “save” the lot spaces for the BOE Superintendent and other school employees.

It makes me wonder – since Hoboken is just a tiny mile square city, why aren’t all kids walking or riding their bikes to school anyway? Shame all that bike lane paint goes to waste.

When were these taken? If it was over the holiday weekend and only for a short period, I’d be inclined to give them a pass. Parking in Hoboken on these weekends is typically abundant and I doubt residents would have trouble finding another spot.

It also looks to me like there’s some type of garage or storage unit at the back of that lot. Could it be possible the vehicles were moved to gain access to that door?

That’s annoying for an area that’s already difficult to park. However, they can’t use most of the lot because it’s where they put the “trailers” for the 7trh graders. School official likfe to call them “modular classrooms”, but they sure look like trailers . Maybe the boe can make an arrangements with the bus lots utown for some space.

Shouldn’t the Super just get one of the 100’s of “Park Anywhere” placards they give away to friends and family at city hall?

I guess Kid’s First is now Us First?
