Hoboken crime and fire action: July 26, 2011

An ongoing list of various noteworthy incidents, crimes and fire-calls throughout the day for Tuesday, July 26, 2011. This post may be updated and “bumped” periodically.

  • 10:25pm: Cheap beer attracts mobs!
Hoboken Police & Fire are trying to shut down Green Rock Tap & Grill downtown due to severe over-crowding. Dollar drafts will do that on a nice night!
  • 10:10pm: Hit & Run!
Near 11th & Washington – a 2011 Silver Honda Pilot (B99-ARA) crashed into a parked car and tried leaving the scene northbound. The damage was so significant, that the SUV came to a screeching halt at 12th & Washington. The driver is female and from Union City, NJ.
  • 9:45pm: Spraying vandals
A woman contacted HPD saying she witnessed a group of about 10-15 juveniles near 7th & Madison heading towards the St. Ann’s Feast – with spray cans. She said she saw them spraying something, but no word exactly what, or if any substantial vandalism had taken place. Can’t kids be creative in other ways?
  • 9:00pm: Hertz Hates Hoboken
Reports of a Hertz truck crashing into the 14th Street Viaduct – but backed up, and fled the scene northbound. That’s the thanks they give us for the fat city rental car contract?
  • 11:15am: Car crash
Two vehicles collided at Newark & Harrison Streets, one of the more treacherous vehicular passages in Hoboken. No injuries reported.
  • 11:00am: HPD busy with feast procession
Hoboken Police will be quite occupied with “traffic duty” today, as the annual St. Ann’s statue procession overtakes city streets.
  • Hoboken “Pre-Cog” sees trouble
Hoboken411 reader Eric believes that the heavy, wobbly steel plate at the corner of 16th & Willow is a potentially dangerous situation for pedestrians and vehicles.
