Cavernous Sinkhole forming on 3rd St.

Early stages of VERY deep sinkhole: 3rd & Park

Beware when you drive, bike or jog near 3rd & Park Avenues!

Hoboken411 reader Greg sent in this tip about a VERY deep sinkhole / road collapse forming. He said that a jogger nearly snapped an ankle running into it earlier this afternoon.

I checked it out myself just a little while ago, and BOY is it deep. Over 2 feet deep – and looks like it can spread very easily… I saw TWO cars slam into it (didn’t sound good at all).

Let’s see how many people, cars and bikes will get hurt or damaged before the city fixes it.

Good luck everyone!

I wouldn’t be surprised to discover that the infrastructure under these spots is about as well built and sturdy as the wooden pier that was paved over up in the Shipyard right outside of LUA. Bravo!

Well glad to hear they closed those streets! Why won’t they run over there and fill it up with new cement ASAP? That would be much more cost effective than waiting for the whole thing to collapse…ugh..crazy – HobokenGreg – hope you’re okay!

Listen, these are not sink holes or potholes……They are secret escape routes discovered that all the city officials are digging so that once they are all indited, they can escape unseen…….We now know why nothing gets done in the city, they were busy doing something else……..Where is Batman!

Who wants to place some bets on how long the two potential sinkholes on Garden and 11th will turn into craters?

One on the crosswalk (which has previously been worked on) and another opposite 1115 Garden.

Estimates in weeks please ladies and gents….
