Gross Garbage Truck Litter!

Oxymoronic Garbage Trucks in Hoboken

I don’t think I’ve ever brought this up before – but now that the weather is warmer, I’m once again reminded.

Have you noticed that some of these garbage trucks that pick up refuse for Hoboken, actually leave this toxic pile of crud behind? I noticed it the other day, it reeked, and was comprised of vomitous fluids and broken glass as well. I reckon it’s dangerous for pets and even bicyclists. Wonder what can be done to prevent these gag-inducing incidents from taking place going forward?

Not a pretty site for the “NJ Gold Coast.”

On a related topic, I recently got a mailer from the city (and many of you probably did too) about the new recycling policy, where they are now taking glass/cans and paper at the same time. The flyer said that residents are required to use recycling bins. Well, I’m not going to and here’s why. Because the sanitation guys never put them back where they find them! I went through two recycling bins and three plastic trash bins that disappeared or repeatedly turned up half a block away. These guys dump the stuff in the truck and then just toss the bins wherever they feel like. I don’t think I should have to keep getting new bins and then have these guys throw them in front of another house. If I had some guarantee that they would put it back in front of my house where they found it, then I would comply. But until then it’s environmentally unsound plastic bags for me.
