Hoboken crime, fire & incident update: June 26, 2011

Hoboken Police and Fire Action Blotter 2011 Sunday 1 - Hoboken Police & Fire Blotter: 6/26/2011

Various Hoboken incidents – Sunday, June 26, 2011. This post may be updated as necessary.

  • 11:35pm: Pizza Parlor Knife Incident
Over at Lorenzo’s Pizza – reports that a white male pulled a knife on a worker inside the restaurant. He’s now hanging out. Police will have to talk some sense into this guy too. What’s the deal these days?
  • 11:20pm: Kids smashing cars – FBI spots them!
The FBI contacted Hoboken P.D. to say that they spotted three kids smashing car windows near 9th & Madison. Whoa! The FBI is still here in town!
  • 11:15pm: Suicidal Fella
Some guy, living on Washington St. near 9th Street – is threatening to kill himself. HPD is en route with multiple units to check this fella out. I hope it wasn’t because he didn’t have a clear view of the fireworks earlier. Nope. Turned out he was just drunk and dramatic. Hoboken EMS took him to the HUMC.
  • 10:50pm: After all these years, people still can’t tell what fireworks sound like
Happens every single time there are fireworks near Hoboken. Some nervous ninny calls 911 about the noise, concerned it’s something else. HPD told one woman tonight: “911 is for emergencies.”
Gay Pride Fireworks from Hoboken NJ June 26 2011 - Hoboken Police & Fire Blotter: 6/26/2011
  • 9:25pm: Sunday Night Drunks
A bunch of guys slugging drinks at a rapid rate over at Texas Arizona downtown got cut off by the bartenders. Now they refuse to leave and are causing trouble. HPD en route to talk sense into them. Earth to drunks – liquors stores open until 11pm!
  • 8:15pm: Cheeba Alert
A poor guy smoking Mary Jane on 3rd Street had a visit from HPD – from a “concerned neighbor” who smelled the illegal substance. C’mon, really? I don’t do it myself, but seriously – it smells like a good mellow time!
  • 6:05pm: Pedestrian Struck
9th & Garden Street – reports of a pedestrian struck by auto. Rinse, repeat same mistakes.

More updates to come…

The Gay Pride fireworks show is annual and has kicked off at the same time since I first witnessed it in the early 2000s. Nothing’s changed.

Anyway, it was fabulous and meaningful. And it beats the Macy’s crap and the crowds anytime.

Sorry, I have a real job, not the kind where I get to roll out of bed, throw on a pair of dirty sweat pants so I can go pick up dog shit, I need my beauty sleep.

10:30 on a Sunday night is too late unless the next day is a holiday. And I don’t EVER remember any fireworks starting as late as 10:30.

I suggest wiping up the irrational shit that comes out of your mouth for a career. It’ll be a long one.

Figures why dog walking didn’t work out for you, and why you’re here, resentful of other people who walk dogs. Tough shit. Move on.
Hey, that could be your next “career” changing old people’s diapers, you get to stay in cleaning up shit business!
I never wore my underrros backwoods and never bent over for the soap in the shower..we have come a long way..My question is if you like to back into doorknobs why get married..in a divorce someone has to pay chilld support and alimoney..just live together..to prove a point is costley..love is grand.
what some of these leafletts should watch is the ( shawshenk redemption) you dont have to be gay to be in prison.. tim robbins could not walk for a few days..Como needed the votes that bad,,does he drop the soap..lets wisen up.
The Gay Pride fireworks show is annual and has kicked off at the same time since I first witnessed it in the early 2000s. Very interesting that the FBI is still here! This has to be bigger than just emails.

Did these fireworks really need to start at 10:30 on a Sunday night? 👿 How about a reasonable hour, 9-9:30 even? These were going until 11. WTF?

That was the shortest Gay Pride fireworks display in twenty years. I get the bcks went into changing legislation. God Bless supporting household economic units that are not necessarily marriages.
Did these fireworks really need to start at 10:30 on a Sunday night? is there any credence to the story that the city hall work hours has been or will be increased to 40 hrs ? such as 9am to 5pm? does anyone know if its a fact or rumor?? 😯
6:15pm pedestrian update. It was actually a person on a bike, not seriously injured.
