Hoboken Police & Fire Blotter: 7/19/2011

Hoboken crime and fire action: July 19, 2011

An ongoing list of various noteworthy incidents, crimes and fire-calls throughout the day for Tuesday, July 19, 2011. This post may be updated and “bumped” periodically.

  • 5:50pm: Car stolen – with dog inside!
Reports of a red Volkswagen stolen in front of CVS downtown. The keys were left inside… along with a dog! The vehicle had Pennsylvania plates. Unknown direction of flight. If Oscar was in the car – the driver would no longer have jugular veins.
5:57pm update: Car recovered near 1st & Garden – including the pooch.
  • 4:00pm: Park Ave. Burglary
A resident living on Park Ave. between 10th and 11th arrived home to find their apartment had been burglarized. As proper protocol, Patrolmen who responded requested Detectives to investigate. However, due to Zimmer Police cuts, there was no available staff on hand. Way to go, McMayor!
  • 10:30am: Truck strikes tree
A delivery truck struck and damaged a tree on 13th St. between Hudson & Washington. Hoboken Parks Dept. dispatched to clean up the mess. Does that elm have tree insurance?
  • 10:00am: Expensive cars become worth less in Hoboken
Jeez – more car fender benders. This time at Observer & Jackson (no injuries). This is like the 2nd or 3rd time today! I can’t keep up, may have to start bunching these incidents “Costco style.” (Mental note to self: work on Hoboken driving video game idea…)

More updates to come…
