Voting by Mail (VBM) – Explained

The ability to vote by mail benefits all NJ residents

Voting by mail in Hoboken New JerseyOne of the greatest changes to come out of our state government (which is far and few between) – was the modification of the “Absentee Ballots,” which used to have stringent requirements to use (out of country, etc.)

Now, Voting By Mail (VBM) is a fantastic way vote on your timetable, not only on election day. Fill out the form when you’re ready, and drop it in the mail. A nice and simple way to encourage more voters to participate in local elections. The VBM trend is starting to catch on as constituents wake up and realize the benefits.

However, many residents still don’t understand the Vote-by-Mail changes that the State made. Some are still referring to them as “Absentee Ballots,” which is incorrect and further confuses the public. See this informative interview Robert Giles, Director of the NJ Division of Elections gave about the subject:

Enjoy your day!

Voting by mail *legally* is good. *Illegally* is bad.

Many people are uncomfortable with the electronic voting machines we use in Hudson which have no paper trail, and I have heard that some people prefer to vote by mail on a paper ballot because they know their vote will be counted as they intended it to be. There is a higher level of scrutiny on paper ballots, especially in a case of challenge or recount.

Great benefit but subject to abuse. Time will tell. “Act as if the whole election depended on your single vote.” – John Wesley, 1748

I can pay my bills online, do my taxes online, day trade stocks online, renew my car registration online, pay a summons for parking online. I can do all kinds of stuff online except vote.

It’s about time already for online voting. Save a tree already and fire the postman, down with paper ballots and mail in ballots. It is time for the eVote Revolution!

There is too much fraud with computerized voting already. How do you do a re-count when there is no “paper trail”? Moving to an Internet-based system would just open us to a world of hurt.

We need to stay with pen and paper only based voting. Not to mention that some of the oldtimer candidates still pay $40 for a VBM turned in to them unsealed.

Vote by Mail is a great innovation that stops fraud. There’s a paper trail with every VBM, which is why it was so easy for the AG to crack down on fraud in Paterson. Eleven people were charged with tampering with ballots or voting by mail for people that didn’t authorize it last year. Only stupid people commit VBM fraud because it’s too easy to get caught. SRM is just repeating the lies of desperate Hoboken campaigns that can’t win on the issues. SRM has no proof, and unlike Paterson and other places, no fraud either.

The real fraud happens at the voting booth. Anyone can walk up to the polling place and give a name with a straight face and vote with no ID. Once they vote, it’s over. You can’t take the vote off the machine.
Not to mention that some of the oldtimer candidates still pay $40 for a VBM turned in to them unsealed.
Voting by mail is the most secure way, you can’t be serious?
Mail fraud (mail opened or tampered could never happen?)
Hackers (getting into secure websites coudn’t happen?)
Voting in person, & absentee ballots worked.
Voters should carry I.D. even if poll workers know you on sight.
So much FRAUD / IDENTY THEFT, not sure anything
is 100 per cent safe.
Vote by Mail is a great innovation that stops fraud. except for when people walk through buildings telling people who to vote for…sometimes passing out money along with it. In those cases, it makes fraud much, much easier.
Vote by Mail is a great innovation that stops fraud. Got video? Got testimony under oath in a court of law under the threat of perjury? If you do, bring it to the Attorney General so they can bring the perpetrators to justice. Otherwise keep your baseless allegations to yourself.

Good people trying to serve the community are being unfairly smeared every day by allegations like this. Adamc and all the other worshipers of the Mayor should have gotten the message last night that their hateful lies won’t win elections. Apparently they didn’t. See you on May 10th.
