Where is this ZipCar sign?

Rare Hoboken Zip Car sign – where is this?

Well all know Hoboken is snuggling up with Hertz on Demand Connect Cars for some (probably financially beneficial) reason. But that doesn’t change the fact that an equal number of hourly Zip Cars are also available in the Mile Square.

The main difference is, that the city has no interest in promoting them, and as a result – they have a mere fraction of the “exposure” the other rental company gets.

But below – is a very rare ZipCar rental sign… do you know where this is?

what really gripes me is getting repeated glossy advertizing from the city for the Hertz program. I’m going to guess that it is our tax dollars footing the bill.

As for sign location, I’m going to say the garage on Jefferson between 8th and 9th.

I did some googling and found this answer as to why Hoboken went with Hertz:

“This was an open bidding process that was posted on the City of Hoboken’s website, and multiple car-sharing companies were notified of the RFQ. Zip Car and Connect by Hertz were the two companies that submitted bids. The bid amounts were included in the City Council meeting resolution packet for 4/7/10 and are available on the City website as well (pdf). A two year contract was awarded to Hertz. However, Hertz must pay the City of Hoboken rent to use the on-street spaces. The program does not cost Hoboken anything because all costs are incurred by Hertz.”

My question, though, is who pays for the flyers and postage advertising this to residents? Hertz or the City.
