Mon Cheri FroYo doomed for good in Hoboken

We told you this last month that Mon Cheri Frozen Yogurt wouldn’t last much longer. It’s now officially doomed.

A legal notice in the window said something about ordering the business “padlocked,” and now there is a “For Rent” Real Estate sign as well.

I wonder how many people are having a moment of silence for this?

11/21/2013 Update:

Mon Cheri Frozen Yogurt is an enigma in Hoboken. Sometimes they’re open. Sometimes they’re closed, who knows who owns it. A total mystery.

Then they added a hard-to-read set of decals on the window that said “coffee break.”

The latest twist is that they do iPhone repair now too! They even have a Groupon you can have your screen fixed for $25!

I don’t see this place sticking around too long.

Mon Cheri Frozen Yogurt to open in Hoboken this week

Taking the place of Oyo Frozen Yogurt (517 Washington St.) is another frozen yogurt place: Mon Cheri.

The proprietors of Oyo decided to focus on other endeavors – and new owner Henry said he’s excited to try his luck in the competitive Hoboken Yogurt Market.

Mon Cheri will feature “all natural” ingredients – but chose to break away from the whole “organic” label fantasy. “Our yogurt tastes as good as ice cream,” said Henry.

They expect to open by Wednesday, March 16th – and will make further interior renovations along the way.

I don’t think they even serve frozen yogurt anymore. We went in last week and they had gelato and donuts. Went back the next day and the donuts were no longer offered. What is really needed is a good sit-down cafe like the old Frozen Monkey. If they did something like that they might survive, but right now they’re looking sort of doomed.

Yeah, we don’t need six frozen yogurt places. One is enough. OYO was cool. Too bad it’s not the one sticking around…

I must have missed the small business yogurt convention around here recently. Why is this all the rage? Where did it come from? Is there that much demand?
