Hoboken Hair to open 2nd location for Men

Hoboken Hair – which has been open for nearly three years uptown on 14th Street will be expanding into a second location downtown at the former La Femme “European Day Spa” spot at 115 Washington Street early next year.

What do you think the trend is with gender-specific hair places? The Hoboken Man Salon is pretty cool, all “rough and rugged” for manly types, then you have two recent commercial “barber shop” chains move in (V’s Barbershop and Rooster’s Men’s Grooming Center). Now Hoboken Hair adding to the list.

Back in the day you had pretty much two. Barbers and “plain ‘ole” salons. I think part of the reason these men’s places are popping up is also for the fact that parents take their boys there. Like a “grown up” haircut. But I still don’t really see the purpose of specifically drilling down to which gender. Unless real men are afraid to frequent “salons” these days? Maybe someone can share their wisdom as to why this happens.
