Hoboken police and fire blotter: 2/17/2011
Hoboken crime and fire action: February 17, 2011
An ongoing list of various noteworthy incidents, crimes and fire-calls throughout the day for Thursday, February 17, 2011. This post will be updated and “bumped” periodically.
- 9:30pm: Councilman Dave Mello’s Car Towed
At approximately 9:30pm, Councilman At-large Dave Mello – driving his VW Passat – was pulled over near the intersection of 3rd & Monroe Streets. He had an expired registration and expired inspection sticker. He was issued the appropriate summonses, and his vehicle was towed to the impound yard.
If a local government representative cannot handle their own paperwork – do you trust them with Hoboken’s city business?
- 6:20pm: Minor Trash Chute Fire
Fire Alarms activated at 63 Bloomfield Street, reports of a “smoke condition.” HFD seems to think it was in the trash compactor chute – and feels it was previously extinguished by itself. They’re investigating now.
- 4:20pm: Car vs. Car
Another car accident at 14th and Washington (you know, that intersection – like many others – that have colorful traffic lights that tell you whether to go or stay?) No reported injuries.
- 4:05pm: Car vs. Motorcycle
A vehicular accident involving a car and motorcycle at Newark & Monroe. Hoboken EMS dispatched, but no one required medical transport to the hospital.
- 3:30pm: Pyro Kids
A “concerned resident” phoned police about a group of five kids – saying they lit some kind of aerosol can on fire near a car at 4th and Willow. After HPD investigated, it was just kids playing around near a pile of snow. Yeah, they were playing with matches – but no property damage occurred.
- 1:00pm: More hung up tractors
Truck stuck again at 9th and Adams Street (just like it always happens there) – even without the massive snow piles. Nothing being done about this consistent problem in Hoboken.
More updates to come…
