Hoboken DUI (non-councilman)

A pickup truck driver was mega-reckless tonight. He was apprehended on Paterson Road in SW Hoboken, driving with one front tire missing and carving up the road with his sparky amputated axle.

It was also reported he smashed up a car pretty badly (lic. plate MJB-60W) around 532 Washington Street prior to being stopped and arrested.

Hmmm … And just WHAT was I saying a few days ago about conduct in Hoboken’s bars being out of control? Yup, DWI happens everywhere, but we’re about to have about 20,000 college kids show up from out of town with the express purpose of getting tanked. Seeing as most of these kids will be driving into town, shouldn’t this kind of conduct be something that the Mayor should be concerned about?

Elvis- as I was outside, looking at the damage to my friend’s SUV, 2 of the employees of Sullivan’s came out. One of them told me that the driver was someone she knew, had showed up wrecked at their bar, and was thrown out- they refused to serve him. Afterwards, he got in his truck (which they say was parked on 6th St, right at the corner in front of Its Greek to Me), slammed it into reverse, jammed it in drive and hit my friend’s truck.

Assuming he was refused service and thrown out, and seeing how drunk he was by the course of action that followed, I think we can lean towards thinking that the guy didn’t just drive into town. If that’s the case, he got drunk at one of the bars not far from 6th & Washington. It’s just a matter of finding out which (maybe he’ll admit to it, but I doubt it.)

would be very interesting to see where this guy/ gal got so tanked before getting behind the wheel. Wouldn’t it be ironic if it was a place like East LA from which our bar owning Mayor derives his conflict of interest which should have prevented him from weighing in on the St. Pats opening call resolution? Hey 411, if you’ve got the time to find out where this hammered perp got so hammered that would be a huge service to everyone who lives here and wishes fewer people drove into HOB…

I was right across the street inside The Farside, helping the bartender clean up and close the bar, when I heard the very loud crash. I looked up and saw the light, probably white pickup truck smashed into my friend’s SUV right in front of Jarvis convenience store. I ran out trying to get a license plate, but the guy had peeled out and all I saw was a sparks trail from his rim as he hauled A$$ to get out of there.

Thank God he didn’t hit any pedestrians (he did run a few lights). If it were up to me, he’d already be in jail for 5-20 as an example to others. Forget about where he got drunk in town; it was his decision to get behind the wheel in the shape he was in, start the vehicle, and drive off. He should have been man enough to stop it all when he smacked my friend’s SUV.

“Apprehended on Paterson Road in SW Hoboken”.
This road is a hazard.
Is anyone listening? PLEASE DIVERT THE TRAFFIC AWAY FROM THIS ROAD. There are accidents on Paterson every week. On one particular intersection (Harrison and Paterson), there is an accident at least once a month. And don’t forget the lucky person who was hit while sitting on the bench waiting for a bus.

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
