Hoboken Antiques closes after Dora Stern passes away

Hoboken411 learned today that Hoboken Antiques at 511 Washington Street has closed after owner Dora Stern passed away back in March 2012.

Her obituary read:

“A resident and champion of Hoboken since 1976, she was born in New York in 1924. She graduated with a degree in Sociology from New York University and her career included helping to develop the nation’s first Scholastic Aptitude Tests, Public Relations Director for the Mental Health Association of Bergen County, and Truant Officer for Pascack Valley Regional High School. She was a talented painter with a keen eye for design, and an avid interest in antiques led to the establishment of her successful shop on Hoboken’s Washington Street, which she ran until shortly before her death. An informed and generous supporter of the arts, she was Docent at the Newark Museum.”

I’m sorry to hear of her passing. Bought many of my Mom’s Christmas & birthday gifts in her shop down through the years. 🙁
