Google Earth predicts future in Hoboken

12/15/2010:

Google knows future of Hoboken waterfront

Thought you might find this interesting – if you use Google Earth.

If you use the 3D building feature and take a look at Hoboken – a building that hasn’t even broken ground yet (in between the W Hotel and the J. Wiley building) has already been built!

While this is fine and dandy – I think it’d be much more useful if Google Earth can predict the next waterfront collapse instead!

Ooops!

I have serious concerns about Google Earth, not the least of them privacy issues. I read that Europeans have been sabotaging the roaming cars with the radars, especially after one picked up passwords from people’s wi-fi networks. Google’s response was “oops!”

Too bad that building isn’t actually built!

Who dropped the ball on that one during the booming 2000’s when credit was cheap and money was easy to come by?

Jersey City threw up massive office buildings duirng this time. (not saying i want massive office towers in hoboken, just saying there was demand for quality office space)

I’d rather have the building and the waterfront complete. The blue boards and construction hole will be there for a decade which is unfortunate. That’s my crystal ball.

Agreed. I’d much rather have an office building there with ground floor retail/commercial space than an empty lot.
