Stocking Stuffer Idea: Rubber Ice Cube Trays

Brilliant: Tovolo rubber ice cube trays

For those that aren’t fortunate enough to have an automatic ice-cube dispenser in their refrigerator at home – you know what a pain it is to make ice cubes. Many people even resort to actually buying frozen water even though they have the capacity right in their own home to make it for free.

The most frustrating aspect of ice cube trays (besides filling them up), is trying to remove the cubes. I can’t tell you how many times one or more cubes went flying out onto the floor.

Until I discovered the Tovolo “Perfect Cube” silicone ice cube trays.

These pliable trays make quite honestly the perfect cubes ever! And they slide out with the push of a finger. The rubber / silicone material is very “slippery” and is a pleasure to use. The cubes are perfect squares too. You can get a two-pack of regular sized trays for under $15, or one jumbo cube tray for under $10. A perfect price-point for many people on your Christmas list.

And they’ll thank you year-round for the thoughtful gift. Win-win!

Silicone ice cube trays rock, but beware of rubber trays that suck. I picked up some rubber trays at Ikea on the cheap and they were a big disappointment. Regular cheapo rubber trays get hard in the freezer and make removing the cubes a problem. Silicone trays stay pliable.

I have rubber “shot glass” ice cube tray. It makes 4 perfect shot glasses out of ice. Pretty nifty to have for a part or get together.

Dont forget you can fill the shot trays with other liquids other than water for your frozen shots.

I like lemonade for Vodka and rum shots
margarita mix for tequila shots
water for bourbon
7 up for spiced rum.

They get sticky though so you have to drink fast..

I got 4 of the regular trays in which I just empty into a bucket that also sits in the freezer. None shall escape!
