Massive 7th Street Water Main Break
11/10/2010:
7th Street between Clinton and Grand flooded
Another Hoboken Water Main Break…
At approximately 2:30am this morning, Hoboken Police spotted a massive water main break on 7th Street between Clinton and Grand Streets.
Water coming out of a large crack in the middle of the road – is beginning to flood cars out (they’re limited to one tow truck at the moment). Additionally, water is backing up all the way towards the intersection of 7th and Willow and beyond (I guess today won’t be a good day for an Open House at 22 Willow Terrace – whoops!)
Police are currently trying to contact the owners of the cars parked in the vicinity.
If we wind up getting around in boats, I suggest that those who man them finally stop at the STOP signs.
Of course, I won’t push that suggestion.
The skid mark conspiracy has finally come true! On November 1 I told you all that the skid marks are a conspiracy by the HPU to cause flooding, but nobody believed me…

Or maybe it’s just our crappy 100+ year old infrastructure.
Friends joke with me all the time saying any apartment in Hoboken could be waterfront property. More reality than a joke sadly enough.
One good earthquake and we’re toast.
Friends joke with me all the time saying any apartment in Hoboken could be waterfront property. More reality than a joke sadly enough.
Maybe one day we’ll get around in little boats. Like they do in Venice. It’ll be so romantic.
Friends joke with me all the time saying any apartment in Hoboken could be waterfront property. More reality than a joke sadly enough.
The way I see the old timers throwing all manner of trash (and large amounts of house paint for some reason) directly into the storm drains I’m wondering if that’s the plan.
Maybe one day we’ll get around in little boats. Like they do in Venice. It’ll be so romantic.

Does anyone know if the water is safe this morning, for those of us uptown of the break?
Anyone know if Hoboken HS is affected by this at all?? No one answers the phone there.
