Comfort Food to Go

Did you know that this past Monday night Uptown Bagels (14th & Bloomfield) started serving dinner entrees to go?

There are three main courses you can select from and they are already prepared: flank steak, lemon chicken & fish (tilapia). Each entree is really nicely seasoned, and comes with a choice of either mashed potatoes or baked french fries, and broccoli or green beans. The entire dinner is in a microwaveable to-go container – ready to just heat up and eat (although mine was still warm when I got home). The quality of the entire meal, matched with the extremely reasonable prices, make this one of the best choices for uptown residents. Besides full-service restaurants (or Pizza), there’s not many “quick in and out” dinner choices uptown (other than Malibu Diner).

In fact, it could be a great idea to buy a few of these ahead of time to have a fresh healthy dinner several times a week for between $8 and $10. One additional perk: the first ten customers of the night have their choice of a free tiramisu or cheesecake!

  • Chicken entree: $7.99
  • Fish entree: $8.99
  • Steak entree: $9.99

The Greek Salad is another selection definitely worth mentioning. This is packed with tons of different vegetables- cucumbers, scallions, olives, tomatoes, green pepper – in addition to the huge amounts of Feta cheese and lettuce. The salad is $7.99 – but grilled chicken can be added for an additional $3.00. This salad was delicious and is well worth the $7.99. So many salads in Hoboken are just mostly lettuce with a few “extras” – but not this one!

Swing by between 5:30pm and 9pm to get your dinner tonight!

That’s great! You’re right 411 there aren’t alot of options for us uptowners. I’ve always liked their bagels and spreads. I’m hoping to enjoy the dinner options as much. Their hours are just perfect. I have a leftover uneaten appetizer from Helmer’s that I will reheat and the greek salad with grilled chicken sounds like a nice combination to add to my appetizer.
