Halloween Sights: Caution or Decoration?

[Continuing the ORIGINAL Hoboken411 “Halloween Sights 2010” series…]

Is it real or is it Halloween in Hoboken?

Walking around town lately, I’ve seen a lot of “Halloween caution tape” strung around to re-create the look of a crime scene. After snapping a few pictures for possible inclusion in a post, I was about to take another and realized that the caution tape was blocking a true possible danger – an actual construction site!

I found it ironic that the use of caution tape in decorations really does dilute the impact of the actual “caution” warning. I bet this is a pain when you have to deliver packages: not only do you have to climb over the tape, but you have to decide which are real and which are decoration. Wonder why all the obsession with crime – perhaps the 5 o’clock news is partially to blame (or the Hoboken411 Police Blotter?)!

Nothing against the decorations – just a thought!

[Stay tuned for the next Hoboken Halloween Sight! – Note: Submit your entry by emailing Hoboken411 along with a brief paragraph a couple photos, and how you’d like to be credited… ]

As a kid it was fun to put jackolaterns out and maybe some fake spiderwebs… But some of this stuff is getting ridiculous.
